    Re: final scores

PV's defense wasn't that good. They let Va High get back in. Their offense was pretty good.

I saw some of GC and Chilhowie. Chilhowie just didn't look like they could really contain Gate City.

After PV/VHS I had to head home to avoid any possible race traffic and because I had some family coming home.

If they can find a defense they will go far. Good athletes at skill positions. However, i believe this will be a 6-4 7-3 year for them with next year being thier coming out party so to speak. Same goes for GC...ok this year and breaking out again next year.

I agree with you on VA HIGH, 7-3 might be a pretty good call.......I believe they will get the D going, GATE CITY looks a little young but has a lot of talent exspecially at QB

    Prediction:

    Aug 28 Central Home WIN
Sept 4 John Battle Away WIN
    Sept 11 Tennessee Away ???
    Sept 18 Graham Home WIN
    Sept 25 Honaker Home WIN
    Oct 2 Chilhowie Away WIN
Oct 9 Lebanon Home close game
Oct 16 Gate City Away close game
    Oct 23 Abingdon Home WIN
    Oct 30 OPEN
    Nov 6 Lee Away WIN

Yeah looks like poss. 7-3 hmmm maybe better

    Re: final scores

Clintwood looked great tonight. Meade had a couple overthrown with open receivers though. Running game was good. Defense played just good as the offense. But had some trouble wrapping up and staying at home. Two pretty important things. Honaker ran a couple of reverses too well for my liking.

    Re: final scores

Pretty happy with the effort by Clintwood. Don't overlook the fact that everybody was in the game I think, and quite a bit of playing time for most. Quick tabs had Honaker with less than 30 yards at the half so some success as you said, but mostly against the younger players. Honaker wasn't as physical as they normally are, and either due to unhappiness with their early play, or just feeling as they didn't have much behind them, kept a lot of their starters in most of the scrimmage. It was very nice to see Clintwood take it I think 14 plays on the first possesion and march down the field. Lots of room for improvement but there was some things that looked better this week than last week IMO.
What we've got here is failure to communicate. Some men you just can't reach, so you get what we had here last week which is the way he wants it. Well, he gets it.

    Re: final scores

PV played alot of backups against Abingdon and won 10-6, nice to see we can kick a field goal. We seemed to do better on defense when we moved to a 4 man front, not sure how much of that is due to Abingdon or what. VHS didn't score on us when Myron was on the field except for their final drive, he makes a world of difference on the defense. I'd expect he'll see a ton of action both ways in close ball games. I came away thinking that PV can score on anybody and still has a way to go on defense. I still don't think the kids are on the right page in terms of alignment, one play in particular I remember it appeared we were in man coverage with our safety (20 yards off the ball) playing a guy in the slot, the pass was overthrown and would've picked off had our defender not fell. We'll be alright, schedule is brutal but I think we'll contend. Since I've been following high school football this is as wide open as I've seen it. CW people, is Honaker that bad or CW that good? I heard Honaker was down but shocked by the scores Lung was sending in throughout the night.

    Re: final scores

Didn't get to see last week's game. So I have no comparison. But rereading what I wrote, I do make it sound like Clintwood didn't play very well but they did. The 42-14 score shows that. I still noticed some wrapping up problems with the 1st stringers though. Nothing too bad and probably nothing to worry about. It was worse with the 2nd stringers yes but that's no surprise.

Honaker is not very good at this point Clintwood took the opening kickoff and kept the ball 7:30 on there 1st scoreing drive on a mix of running and passing plays....Honaker Fumbaled on there 1st play from scrimage which sort of set the tone for them (They had the ball for a total of 11 plays at the half)

I thought Clintwoods young players did well playing most of the 2nd half and IMHO holding there own

Still plenty to work on before they strap it up for real
